Assigning Places to an Agent
Why It Matters
You build your knowledge once, as Places full of Resources, then assign the right Places to each Agent. An Agent uses only the Places assigned to it, and nothing else. The same Place can go to more than one Agent, so you can share knowledge without duplicating it.
If you're still setting up your knowledge, start with Creating and Managing Places.
Assigning Places
- Open the Agent from Agents > Overview.
- Open the Places tile.
- On the Agent Places page, you'll see every Place in your Organization with a checkbox.
- Check the Places this Agent should use, or uncheck ones it shouldn't.
Your changes save automatically as you select, and a short confirmation tells you how many Places were added or removed. There's no separate Save button.
The list shows each Place's Name, Type, and Address, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Use the header checkbox to select everything at once.
Changes Take Effect Instantly
Assigning and unassigning Places happens immediately. The moment you check a Place, the Agent can use that knowledge on its very next message. Uncheck it, and the Agent loses access right away. There's no waiting and no re-publishing.
This makes it easy to test. Keep extra knowledge in its own Place and switch it on or off to see how your Agent responds, or assign seasonal content only when you need it.
Good to Know
- An Agent answers only from the Places assigned to it. Knowledge in unassigned Places is invisible to it.
- One Place can be assigned to many Agents. Write it once, reuse it everywhere.
- Assignment changes apply instantly, on the Agent's next message.
